How do you improve on a multiple award-winning report? With ambition, ingenuity, technical innovation and user analytics to guide you.

Oakley Capital Investments’ 2023 reporting won 7 prestigious reporting awards in the past year, for its game-changing innovation which showcases the communications and compliance capabilities of the ESEF report. (Reminder: ESEF is the mandatory web format that has replaced PDF).

For OCI’s 2024 report, we built on our successful collaboration to create an even more advanced annual ESEF report, incorporating new features that enhance efficiency, engagement and compliance even further, offering many transformative benefits to both companies and stakeholders.

Multiple formats, published simultaneously on results day

All versions of the OCI report (digital, ESEF, PDF) were seamlessly and efficiently delivered from a single source of content allowing simultaneous publication alongside the results announcement.

Better for stakeholders

Detailed user analytics from 2023’s report provided insights into stakeholders’ preferences, and were used to improve the content, structure and user experience of the 2024 report.

This includes an enhanced homepage introducing key performance and strategic information. Animated graphics and video are used throughout to increase engagement and bring report content to life.

Mobile friendly and responsive

Reporting designed in print software is unusable on a mobile. This is becoming more important as mobile use increases. Over 98% of the world uses a mobile to access content online, and it’s estimated that nearly 75% of stakeholders worldwide only have a mobile to access digital information.

To meet this changing demand, ESEF reporting needs to be mobile friendly. OCI’s ESEF digital reporting is now optimised for all screen types, across all format versions.

More accessible reporting

Because OCI’s annual report is created in digital design software, it meets online accessibility standards (WCAG). And this approach means that the PDF report is also mobile optimised and more accessibility compliant.

More ESEF compliant

By designing the report ‘natively’ in XHTML, the format has none of the conversion problems which plague ESEF reports created from InDesign PDFs. OCI’s native XHTML reporting delivers more user-friendly iXBRL tagging and more reliable data for machine analysis and AI. This approach follows the latest FRC and FCA guidance to companies on ESEF compliance and best practice.

A more efficient, digital-led design process

The latest OCI report is, again, built using the next-generation ‘Reportl’ design software.

This shift to purpose-built digital design software requires minimal change to processes. The design is fully managed by the reporting agency, and it makes remote editing and proofing simpler, faster and easier. Throughout the process, the content, design, editing and tagging is completed in a single integrated system.
